Mareeba volunteers recognised

Posted 23 Nov '18

Mareeba Aged Care volunteers were recognised for their outstanding contribution at a recent event attended by Kevin Hogan, Federal Member for Page.

Mr. Hogan acknowledged the selfless service of Mareeba’s volunteers saying: “Volunteers are the backbone of our community, they support us when times are tough and give us a helping hand when needed.”

Mareeba’s volunteers are highly active providing comfort and support to residents, assisting staff with the organisation’s broad social activities program and raising funds that enhance residents’ lifestyle.

“Being a Mareeba volunteer means not only do you get to make other people happy, you also experience a personal sense of self worth.  Our volunteers are amazing people and our residents love the interaction with our volunteers. We also find our volunteers often form genuine friendships with other members, ” said Director of Nursing Rachel Bennett.

Anyone wishing to be a volunteer can call Mareeba Aged Care on 6645 2966 to find out more.
