Mareeba’s Nurses Acknowledged

Mareeba Aged Care in Maclean thanked its nursing staff on International Nurses Day. 

80 of the 130 staff at Mareeba are nursing staff including 58 Assistants in Nursing, 10 Enrolled Nurses and 12 Registered Nurses. Mareeba’s nurses are on-hand 24/7 to support residents.

On Thursday 30th August Mareeba held a pre Father’s Day morning tea, combined with a beautiful cake and entertainment.

Drought Relief Fundraiser

Special thanks to all that contributed to the amazing outcome of Mareeba’s Drought Relief Fundraiser. Staff all dressed up in their farmers outfits and there was a good-old Aussie BBQ combined with live entertainment. The place was buzzing, with donations from residents, relatives and staff - there were particularly generous donations received by two residents and another from a resident's husband.

Following much preparation, Mareeba and the Whiddon group came together on this wonderful warm sunny morning to join in our very own Race day, the activities were very much enjoyed by all residents taking part in disk throwing and botchi events.

Hot Rod Visit

Residents were fascinated by the magnificent display of hot rods from the "Borderline Street Rodders Club" who called into Mareeba today.

Over 100 hundred finely tuned and lovingly restored vehicles brought many a "wow"....."oh i like that one"..."listen to that one"...from residents as the cars paraded for us with many even being driven up to the main entrance of Mareeba.

A huge thank you to the members of the club for taking the time to share their obviously much loved vehicles with us.

Lower Clarence Rowing Regatta

Sunday 11th September some of our resident went out to watch the Lower Clarence Rowing Regatta which is held annually on the banks of the South Arm on Woodford Island. Residents were able to watch some of the races. Mareeba are proud sponsors of some of the race events. Congratulations to all those that competed.

Retirement of Jillian Browne

The end of July sees Mareeba's Director of Nursing, Jillian farewelled as she and husband Mick set off to begin their retirement and all the adventure it brings. Jillian has been at Mareeba for over 10 years taking care of residents, relatives, visitors and staff and has become a familiar and friendly face to many.
